Client testimonials
"We asked for a pre-marriage review because my husband had property from a previous arrangement and we wanted to be clear about how it would be treated. Roshani explained everything patiently over two meetings and the written summary she prepared is something we still refer to. It was not a rushed experience."

"The separation process was difficult and I did not want to feel pushed through it. What I found at Bondhold was the opposite — they let me raise questions in my own time and the draft agreement was explained to me in a way I could actually follow. The separate session before the joint review was something I particularly valued."

"My situation involved a marriage certificate from Australia and questions about how it would be recognised here. I had spoken to two other solicitors who did not seem comfortable with the international side. Bondhold mapped the jurisdictions clearly at the first meeting and I knew from that point that I was in the right place."
Vijayan Nair

"I appreciated that the fee was agreed in writing before anything began. I had a previous experience with a solicitor who added charges I was not expecting. Bondhold was clear from the start about what was included and what would trigger an additional discussion. That alone made it easier to engage."

"My former husband is based in Singapore and our children's schooling arrangement needed to be formalised properly. Khairul handled the coordination with the Singapore solicitor and kept me informed at each stage. The written notes after each step were something I found very reassuring — I always knew what had happened and what was coming next."

"For our pre-marriage review, we wanted to understand what would happen to my partner's business assets in the event of a separation later on. The review was thorough without feeling adversarial. We came out of it with a much clearer understanding of what we were entering and what we would want to document formally as circumstances develop."

Case Studies
Engagements in more detail
Case Study 01
Pre-marriage review for a couple with assets in two countries
The situation
A couple approached Bondhold several months before their planned marriage. One partner held property in Malaysia; the other held savings and a small business interest in Hong Kong. Neither had previously considered how these assets would interact under Malaysian family law.
What was done
Bondhold conducted three sessions over six weeks — one jointly and two individually. A written summary of the applicable Malaysian provisions was prepared in plain English, along with a note on the relevant Hong Kong considerations. The couple were advised on what a formal prenuptial arrangement would require if they wished to proceed further.
Outcome
The couple left the engagement with a clear written record of their legal position and a list of the documents they would need to prepare for any future formal arrangement. They chose not to proceed to a prenuptial agreement at that stage but retained the summary for future reference.
"We did not know what we did not know until the review. That changed things." — client
Case Study 02
Separation agreement where children's schooling was the central concern
The situation
A couple with two school-age children sought advice on formalising a separation. The primary concern was not the financial division but the arrangements for the children's schooling, residence, and contact — particularly as one parent had employment that required travel.
What was done
Separate initial meetings were held with each parent. A draft agreement was prepared that addressed residence arrangements in the school term, contact arrangements during school holidays, and provisions for what would happen if one parent's employment required a change of location. Each parent reviewed the draft independently before a joint session.
Outcome
A separation agreement was signed within three months of the first meeting. Both parents noted that the separate sessions allowed them to raise concerns they might otherwise have held back in a joint setting. The agreement has remained in operation without dispute.
"The separate meetings made a difference. I felt I could be honest." — client
Case Study 03
Recognition of an overseas court order within Malaysia
The situation
A client who had returned to Malaysia following a divorce in the United Kingdom needed to understand whether the UK court order — which addressed property and child arrangements — would be recognised and enforceable within Malaysia.
What was done
Bondhold mapped the relevant Malaysian provisions and made contact with a UK solicitor who had worked on the original matter. A written note was prepared for the client explaining which elements of the UK order would be directly applicable in Malaysia, which would require local registration, and which might require a fresh application to the Malaysian courts.
Outcome
The client received a clear written summary of their position within four weeks. Two elements of the UK order required local registration, which Bondhold assisted with. The client described the written notes throughout the process as particularly helpful, as the subject matter was complex and unfamiliar.
"I always knew where things stood. That mattered more than I expected." — client
